FAQ for Bo

Q: How long have you been dog blogging?
A: I’ve been blogging away for two years. It started in July of 2007. It was my way of lending a unique voice to the crazy stories relating to the animal kingdom. I’d heard blogging was all the rage, so who was I to swim against that tide? Besides, I heard the corporate gig wasn’t nearly entertaining enough.

Q: What’s your favorite type of story to cover?
A: Any wacky story with an animal angle. As long as the protagonist in the story can’t speak a human language (parrots get a pass) and they’ve caused troubled or embarrassment for humans, I will cover it.

I like upbeat and happy. There’s too much bad stuff in this world already. If you want that, just go to your local news.

Q: Are there any other dogs in the family?
A: There are three other dog rescues in his house. Copper is a ridge-less Rhodesian ridgeback who is 9. Logan, a Bernese Mtn Dog who we think is about 5 (he was used and abused for 4 years in a puppy mill). Kensington Frank, another Chow Retriever rescue who is probably about 2 years old. For what it’s worth,  Logan has taken over the spot in the bed between my mother and farther. I  enjoy the premium doggie bed I got for Christmas last year much more.

What’s a household without a cat to snuggle up to…or chase? I have Mothball, a tabby with a voracious appetite, and attitude. She’s like Moose, my dearly departed friend, without the constipation issues.

My parents don’t have kids because pets are all they can handle. If you read Bad to the Bone, you’ll understand why.

Q: How old are you? How are you doing?
A: I don’t worship at the alter of time. Age is relative, so I choose to be relatively young. Oh, and I do all right.

Q: What kind of feedback do you get from the dog community?
A: The response has been overwhelmingly positive. Dogs love me, people like me, and cats envy me. To those that look up to my work, they are  appreciative of the effort it takes for a dog to bang his paws away on a keyboard and to come up with sentences that mostly make sense. I know I get a ‘good boy’ and a treat every time I hit the publish button. Maybe that’s why I do it prematurely every once in a while.

There’s only so much time I can expend on this blogging thing before I need a nap. That’s why my mother and I make a great team.

Q: What drives you nuts about the dog community?
A: It’s the groveling I see from today’s dogs. They’ll beg for anything these days. Have some self respect.

Q: What do you think is different about dog and cat people?

A: Now that’s a loaded question, but it’s simple really. Cat lovers buy Meow Mix while dog lovers buy Purina One.

Q: Will the book be from your perspective?
A: Yes. The book is written from my eyes. As I told a friend the other day, “This book provides the unique opportunity to share episodes in my life as they unfolded, through the eyes of man’s best friend. What folks are getting is one hundred percent, genuine Mr. Bo Hoefinger and family. The characters in the book, the stories, and the thoughts are all real.”

Hmm…now that’s a book I would run to the store and fetch off the shelves right now if I were an animal lover.

Q: Do you know that you’re famous?
A: I’m not yet, but I hope to be. If I ever am, don’t worry I won’t change a thing.  I’ll continue to be like any other dog; put my fur suit on one paw at a time and go about my normal business. To all my friends, I’ll continue to be Bobo from the block.
