I love reading reviews that love me.

Especially the ones where I don’t even give a paw for the virtual pat on the head. You’d think with all the love and attention I get from my folks I wouldn’t need that reassurance, but I do. Truth be told, I’m still an insecure little pup at heart.

That’s why I have to woof out a big thanks to all the folks out there that have written great reviews for my book. Woof, Woof! (Go ahead, put that in the Google Translate tool. Or if you don’t want to go to the trouble I’ll give you the answer: it says Thank You!!)

So imagine how happy I was to see a recent review by Dogtipper.com book reviewers Paris Permenter and John Bigley giving my book a few paws up. Well, not just a few, all of them. Heck, it even managed to hit the NY Daily News online version.

Bad to the Bone; Memoir of a Rebel Doggie Blogger is the “autobiography” of lovable canine Bo. No, not that Bo, not First Dog Portuguese Water Dog Bo that lives in the White House. This Bo is a former shelter dog, a retriever-chow mix who lives in Georgia with his parents, dog-sidekick Copper, and Moose, the cat. Having reached the age of 16, Bo looks back on his life with precision, insight, and most of all, witty, sarcastic humor. The book is simply one of the funniest I’ve ever read. (emphasis mine)

Paris and John, have authored over two dozen books for publishers ranging from Random House to Globe Pequot; their dog articles have ranged from first-person pieces about a dachshund for Reader’s Digest to how-to articles for outdoor magazines about photographing dogs.

These two are probably the smartest humans I know. That’s right behind dogs, pigs and parrots on the intelligence food chain.

Not bad, not bad at all.

They’ve got cabin fever so I’m setting them loose, without their leash, on May 15th to attend Woof Stock in Suwanee, GA. Don’t know where Suwanee is, then click here.

As always, they’ll be giving away something for free. You’ll have to attend to find out what it is. If you’ve already purchased your copy and want my paw on it, bring it to the festival and we’ll get it done.

In case you didn’t know, Woof Stock is a fun filled day to be enjoyed with your pet. In fact, it’s filled with great activities throughout the day:

1:00p – 1:20p Dog Agility show Free Clinic 1:20p – 1:50p
2:00p – 2:20p Flyball show Free Clinic 2:20p – 2:50p
3:00p – 3:20p Frisbee Dog show Free Clinic 3:30 – 3:50p
3:30p Smallest Dog contest
4:15p – 4:45p Pet Parade (Pet owners are encouraged to dress their pets in costumes and take part)
4:45p Biggest Dog contest
5:45p Cutest Pet contest
* times are subject to change

I hope my parents won’t be dancing in the mud after inhaling a plate full of cat nip, but I can’t guarantee it. Sometimes they can be so embarrassing.

Hope to see you there!

Bo

Nothing better to make your day than finding yourself on The American Dog Magazine’s Bedtime Books reading list.

For those who may not know, The American Dog Magazine is the first parent magazine for all dog lovers! They actively promote responsibility, accountability and a life-long commitment for every person that brings a dog into their home, ultimately striving to enable your dog (companion, buddy, soulmate) to live a healthier, happier and harmonious life in your world!

Not only that, they know their books! Here’s what they had to say about my memoir:

This is a hilariously funny, sometimes sarcastic, 15-year account of one dog’s home life with Mom and Dad. This is one book dog lovers won’t be able to put down—and it also makes a great gift!

Go out and get your copy of the magazine at your local Borders, Barnes and Noble or favorite independent book store. Oh, and while you’re at it, don’t forget to put a copy of my book in your bag too!

You ever wonder whether life is passing you by, that maybe you’re not hip enough to stand out in a crowd?

I know I used to, but frankly now I just make sure my hip doesn’t stand out in the crowd…because if it gets bumped, it hurts.

It turns out I don’t have to worry about life passing me by because my memoir just made an appearance on PetMd’s Haute or not? blog.

In case you didn’t know, “Haute or Not? @PetMD” is the premier online resource for information, opinions, and reviews on the latest pet products. Plus, they have the keenest insight into the best dog literature ever written. How else to explain the opening line?

Bad to the Bone: Memoir of a Rebel Doggie Blogger (wow, long title!) is a comical glimpse into the life of an all-American family, as told by the head of the household … Bo the dog!!!

And my favorite line is…

For a shelter dog with no formal education, Bo exhibited laser sharp wit and keen insight into the human condition.

Yeah, that’s right I don’t have any formal education. No basic obedience, agility training or a one credit physical education class at the local community college in my background. Not only did the reviewer pick up on this, but they show some laser sharp wit and keen insight into the human condition just by reading my tome.

Don’t forget to go to the site and vote by clicking on the pink Haute button at the top of the article.

C’mon, I’m Haute.

The greatest dog book ever written by a dog gets a woof-out from dogasaur.com today. The site helps folks to find dogs, make friends and find out about dog products. It’s an informative destination on the intertubes.

Plus, they have great taste as shown by their opinion of Bad to the Bone: Memoir of a Rebel Doggie Blogger. This tome scores a 10 out of 10 in ‘Woofiness’ and ‘Off-Leashness’ according to the literary experts on the site.

In case you think Bo is just another dog that won’t stop talking about all the cutsie things that have happened to him, you can breathe a huge sigh of relief right now, because from the outset, Bo lets readers know he was the subject of a “revenge adoption.” That Bo is a dog with a dark side is confirmed in the chapter Enema of the State.

If you want really to feel that level of canine freedom for yourself, read this rocking, barking book!

Let’s face it, they know their stuff.

Pets Press is a monthly publication that talks directly to animal adoring pet owners with quality stories and in-depth authoritative features, photos, product news and reviews, advice columns, letters to the editor and more.

Any review that starts out with the following, is one that I know I’m going to like:

This year’s newest doggy novel, “Bad To The Bone: Memoir of a Rebel Doggie Blogger ” by Bo Hoefinger, is the most entertaining novel ever written by a dog. You’ll thoroughly enjoy this page turner from cover to cover.”

Make sure to pick up a copy if you live in Connecticut. Otherwise go to petspress.net and download a pdf version of the current month’s edition.

Bad to the Bone: Memoir of a Rebel Doggie has hit the Big Apple’s big screen.

Featured on Times Square’s jumbotron, my lovely mug was on display for all New Yorkers to see…well for a few seconds anyway.

My father thinks he’s being worldly when he says this about New York, “Bo, if you can make it there, you can make it anywhere.”

Surely he knows that not only did I make it New York but I’ve been making it in Georgia too. All he needs to do is walk in the backyard and step in some of my recent work for confirmation.

Now if I could just get him to drive me to Rockefeller Plaza to pee on that big tree, all my dreams will be fulfilled.
